Cheryl feels doubly fulfilled in her work at Glenn Burdette as she occupies the roles of both accountant and teacher. “I have always been involved in training and teaching technical skills at every firm I’ve been with,” says Cheryl, a Cal Poly graduate who worked at large firms in San Jose and San Diego before returning to the Central Coast.

Having spent many years as a specialist in state and local taxation, Cheryl is adept at problem solving for state tax consulting and compliance issues. “The key to state tax is being able to remember lots of random facts, and somehow I am able to do that,” Cheryl says. “I try to present information clearly to clients and assist them in making practical business decisions.” Having a depth of experience with clients of all sizes, Cheryl has solved many state filing issues and handled general federal and state compliance for corporations, too.

When she is not working, Cheryl relishes spending time outdoors with her husband, young son and daughter. Traveling, gardening, kayaking and hiking are some of her favorite activities. She also enjoys volunteering at her children’s school.

“I love learning and helping others to learn,” Cheryl says. “To me, tax is about solving puzzles, and so each day I go to work to solve more puzzles.”
